Sheldon Eisenberg passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his son’s home in Morris Plains.  He was 92.  Born in Newark he lived in Millburn, Maplewood from 1960-1975 before moving to Short Hills in 1975 where he has lived ever since with his late wife of 63 years, Leah Eisenberg (nee Benatar).   He held a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from New York University, Class of 1950 and was the co-owner of Northeast Sporting Goods, a sales representative company in the metro New York area for various manufacturers of sporting goods from 1968-1990 when he retired.  He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy as a storekeeper second class on the destroyer Caution and the mine sweeper, Earle B. Hall.  He received the good conduct medal, the American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific Theater, and Victory Medals.  He was a member of B’nai B’rith Millburn-Short Hills Lodge and the Maplewood Men’s Club.  He also was a volunteer at the Millburn Public Library and was an avid tennis player.  He is survived by three sons, Robert (Daisy) Eisenberg of Cool CA., Paul (Donna Ruth) Eisenberg of Morris Plains, NJ, and Richard Louis (Erika) Eisenberg of Manhattan Beach, CA.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, Julia and Giselle.  He is predeceased by his late sister Phyllis Sidison.
