Louis Diamond passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017 after a brief illness.  He was 85.  Born in Elizabeth he lived in Springfield since 1971.  He held a B.A. from Rider University and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Europe during peacetime in the 1950's.  He owned and operated the Elizabeth Iron Works, a steel fabricator and erector, a family business which operated from 1907 until it closed in 1985 when Mr. Diamond retired.  He is survived by his wife, Frances (nee Berg) and two daughters, Debbie Diamond and Shari Diamond all of Springfield, N.J. as well as a son, David Diamond of Hamilton, N.J..  He is also survived by a brother Stanley (Joy) Diamond of Scranton, PA.  He was predeceased by his brother Dennis Diamond.
