Seymour T Singer, known by his family and many friends as “Timmy,” passed away peacefully with his beloved wife and daughter at his side on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in the early morning.  He was 88.  Born in Newark he lived in Springfield, N.J. for 42 years before moving to West Orange, N.J. 10 years ago.  He graduated from the South Side High School in Newark where, he had been a star quarterback in the late 1940's. He served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and continued his service as part of the U.S. Army Ready Reserve.   After completing his active military service he went on to work in his family’s business, I. Katz and Son of Newark, N.J. a roofing, siding and window company.  He worked there for over 30 years, retiring 20 years ago.  He was a member of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield, N.J. and a former member of its Men’s Club.  He is survived by his wife Harriet (nee Zucker) of West Orange, N.J. and his daughters, Tracey Singer of Elizabeth, N.J. and Kimberley Singer of West Orange, N.J.
