Dr. Erica O. Fried (aka Dr. Erica O. Feder) passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 after an extended illness.  She was 71.  Born in Budapest, Hungary, she came to this country first settling in Brooklyn, New York.  Later she moved to Manhattan, then to Brooklyn Heights before settling in Westfield, N.J. over 30 years ago.  She had a B.S. from Brooklyn College and an M.D. from New York University.  She did her residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.  She maintained a private medical practice and was also on staff as a radiologist at Rahway Hospital in Rahway, N.J. for many years, retiring in the late 1990's.  After retirement she returned to school, obtained an MBA and started a free financial advisory service for women in Union County.  Previously she had started a Patient Advocacy program for the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and has also been currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of the Fair Harber Beach Erosion Control District on Fire Island in Fair Harbor, New York.   Previously she had founded the High Holiday Religious Services on Fire Island at Fair Harbor, New York.  She has been, for a number of years, the Treasurer of the Garden Club of New Jersey and a member of the Rake and Hoe Garden Club of Westfield.  She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Jerome Feder, her devoted children Dr. Samantha Beth Feder (and her husband Dr. Douglas Kaiden), Jeffrey Daniel Feder, Ph.D. (and his wife Esther) as well as five grandchildren, Benjamin, Layla, Rachel, Pinchas Aaron and Gideon.
